United offers ‘Down Under’ fare sale LA to Sydney $389

United Airlines now offers a roundtrip fare from either Los Angeles or San Francisco to Sydney only for $389. If you prefer to travel business, it’s only $2,229! They also have fares from Chicago ($529/$2444), New York ($499/$2457) and Seattle ($499/$2367).
Of course, the following terms & conditions apply, but after several tries – months, days, times – to book a roundtrip ticket from Los Angeles to Sydney, the lowest fare we got was $762 for economy class. It just seems like United is going down under!
# A 50 day advance purchase is required for Business class travel and no advance purchase is required for Economy class travel
# Outbound to Sydney or Melbourne must be no later than September 21, 2009 for Economy travel, no outbound travel restriction for Business class travel
# Travel is valid on daily for Economy and Monday through Thursday for Business
# No minimum stay is required and a maximum stay of 12 months is permitted for Business
Did we mention that United is known, statistically, for its highest baggage-lost rating. Oh and don’t forget that United may insist obese passengers buy 2 tickets and excess baggage fees.
